Civic Work-Based Learning

WHAT IS CIVIC WORK-BASED LEARNING?

Changed-Based Learning

Civic work-based learning has a two-fold purpose: changing society and changing oneself. Learning is organized around systemic challenges, rather than traditional subjects. Teachers partner with workplaces that are focused on these challenges to create civic work-based learning projects and internships that engage young people in making a meaningful difference in the world and in their own lives. Learning is measured by the impact on society and students' development of academic-infused Society and Soul Skills as well as the reciprocal impact on their adult partners.

WHY CIVIC WORK-BASED LEARNING? AND HOW?

IT'S ALL ABOUT CARE.

"Why should I care?" How often do students ask this and not get satisfactory answers? Students need to care about what they are learning and doing in order for meaningful learning to take place.  Through our CARE Model™ we help students connect to their learning and the world and enhance professionals' engagement in their work and community.
